Comm 101C Introduction to Communication Studies

As of 2012, I am a second year college student at SJSU , there isn’t much to say about myself other than that I am a busy body always on the go and the move. I rarely have time to just sit back and relax. The photo above is a shark , if you know me , you would know I am scared of them , yet I feel like in perspective I am like one. In this photo specifically , their always on the go , on the move , never stopping for their prey.  To be honest their interesting creatures , they go for what they want and usually end up getting it. But always in the dark.

The reason why I want to Study communication is because it is a universal idea of how we see the world . Though there are many different perspectives as of how we can see things. Communication gives the opportunity to be able to analyze things from more than one point of view. Communication for me has been a basis of my life, I’ve used it in ways which help me gain awareness about the world around me which has given me a more open idea of how to see things . Communication helps us have a variety of ideas as well has preparation to uniquely create different career paths for ourselves as well giving us the higher advantage based upon where we want it to me.I see communications as a way to create a balance between individuals through observing and finding the basis of a common ground between people. It a way to view the world with out having to just create a specific idea .As a communication scholar I am primarily interested in finding ways in which communication can fit into my multiple career goals , the reason why I love communication is because it gives the many opportunities in which other studies don’t offer. There is not a complete direct place you have to set communication into unlike majors like business or engineering. Currently I do field marketing work and have used it to my advantage in sales, interaction with consumers and companies , as well as finding a way to engage the public into certain products. It has helped me gain much more advantages as of how to view and communicate with people instead of using a direct general approach in which has its limitations

Why is it in a world full of diverse settings , do we still judge others based on their religion , race , gender , culture , tradition and so much more?. Is it because of our own personal views in which we judge others?.  Is it because we have not experienced their lives therefore we judge because we are un-experience?, why would we think something is wrong or weird if we’re not a part of it?. I am not saying im and the most open minded human being and I don’t do the same at times- but I am questioning the idea of establishing such a harsh judgement upon things that are different to ourselves.

As even Warren and Fasset said in the beginning of the book “ This is our Introduction to communication studies , not someone else’s. Though they mention a few ideas in which we may interest our focus into , I am interested in a combination of things.  Mostly with media and marketing,media and marketing have a lot to do with communication because it looks for a direct audiences in which they are target to and try to focus around them to find a common interest which will give the consistent interest for those audiences. In a way communication looks for the ideas around them nor the direct idea. Because if there was only one it would be a complete standard which would make everything boring. In a weird way , I am like a shark , always on the go and trying hard to get what I want. And now what I want is to learn about communication because for me it is just the beginning , I am only into my second year at San Jose State,so getting what I want is a great part of being able to fully understand communication in various ways which will assist me further in life.
